Mushroom Walk & Growing Workshop

Every Sunday at The Woodlands Nature Reserve, join Bubba on a fun and informative wander through the woods.

Join him on a forage for wild mushrooms while hearing his incredible stories of growing up on the land over the last 40 years.

Adults and kids ages 12+ are invited to learn about the fantastic world of fungi, and then stay for the workshop and learn how to grow their own!

Mushroom walks are $20 per person, and are included with any overnight stay!

Mushroom Workshops are an additional $20 per person.

Mushroom walks begin at 8:30am and meet in front of the bath house at Baileys Field.

Mushroom workshops begin shortly afterwards, at 10:15am in front of the bath house at Baileys Field.

Is this event family friendly?

This event is for adults and kids 12 and up. Dogs on leash are welcome.

How do I sign up for the Workshop?

To sign up, just purchase a ticket to either the 10:15 mushroom workshop, or the 8:30am mushroom walk, workshop, and lunch package.

Are workshops included with my overnight stay?

Yes.

Are workshops included with my day pass?

Save money by booking mushroom walk and workshops in advance online. A day pass is included with any visit to Bubba!

What Covid safety measures are in place to ensure everyone’s safety?

Masks are encouraged. Please respect social distancing during the walk and workshop. Luckily we  have lots of space, so this shouldnt be difficult.

Arriving & Parking

Entry is located just via the main entrance to Woodlands Nature Reserve at 4279 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.

Once you go past the gate, stay left and follow the arrows into Baileys Field. There you will see the bath house, which is the meeting location.

You may park on the grass near the bath house.

Will there be food and drinks available?

You may add a vegan meal cooked with local mushrooms over an open fire for an extra $8.

What should I bring with me?

We Recommend:

  • Drinking water

  • Close-toed shoes

  • Hat

  • Sunscreen

  • Insect repellent

  • Sunglasses​​

What is the refund policy?

All sales are final. In instances of extreme weather conditions, event cancellations are possible and refunds will be issued.

Can I bring my dog or pet?

Well behaved dogs on leash are allowed. Please be courteous and clean up after your pet.​

Can I purchase tickets at the door?

No. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Where is the entrance to The Woodlands Nature Reserve?

The entrance is the main entrance at The Woodlands Nature Reserve, 20-minutes west from downtown Charleston on Highway 61.
